Stannary Solutions Ltd is a property development company with a portfolio of high-end and high spec properties around England. Planning consent was received for developing a four storey building in Worcester into accommodation for students at Worcester University. The conversion is due to open for the September intake of students.
Kobolt was asked to design and build a website showcasing unique rooms and features of this boutique style development. A logo and general identity was also needed for the building – Farrier House.
The client had specific views about the style and feel of Farrier House, aiming at discerning students wanting a stylish, comfortable and practical living space. The identity had to be clean and modern.

After designing a logotype based on this example it quickly became clear to me that such a minimalistic approach would not give the necessary visual impact. We had to create a simple colour scheme for website and printed material and the grey logotype on its own stood too far back. I therefore added the symbol of F and H resembling the building itself and combined this with the logotype. The result has been very well received:
Based on the discussions regarding the necessary website features and budgets it was decided to go down the Squarespace template route. I then selected a template and got about designing, building and testing the site. A gallery of room pictures were available thanks to a mock up room on site. As the building is still a construction site we decided to source relevant stock images to give the right flavour of the planned environment. These will be replaced with real property and people shots as soon as and where this is possible.
A facebook page and twitter account were also set up. Those are now maintained by the appointed letting agent.
There has been a great response since the launch of the website and presence on a student housing fair in Worcester end of January. A large number of the units are already booked by coming students.
UPDATE, September: All rooms are booked for the 2017–18 university year.
